GRIEF SUPPORT
We offer a variety of opportunities for ongoing emotional support and information related to grief, loss and life adjustment following the death of a loved one.

There is no greater reward than knowing I was able to make my patient more comfortable just by being present and holding their hand.

Kristin W., LCSW

Grieving the loss of a loved one is often a painful and lonely experience. Those who are grieving need a safe and supportive environment where they can share their experiences, understand the stages of grief and gain coping skills that will bring about life change. By actively participating and educating ourselves in the grieving process healing can occur. As we heal, we can eventually make renewed investments in life.

At Monarch Hospice we recognize that each individual’s grief is different. We offer a variety of opportunities for ongoing emotional support and information related to grief, loss and life adjustment following the death of a loved one.

Support Groups

Adult Loss Support Group – meets once a week for six weeks to express shared feelings and experiences and to learn coping strategies along with others dealing with the loss of a loved one.

Children's Loss Group – Meets once a week for four weeks utilizing play and art therapies to express and work through the grief process.

Drop in Group (Adult) – An informal group that meets twice a month to provide ongoing support and education to those that have experienced a loss and are working through the grief process.

The Monarch Club – Planned monthly outings for bereaved individuals and families to help reestablish social interactions while providing support to each other.

Individual and/or Family Grief Support

Our Bereavement Counselors can provide support on an individual basis or in a family group setting. Support sessions may take place in person at the Monarch Office or in an individual’s home or by telephone. The type and amount of support is tailored to meet the needs of the grieving individual and/or family.

Memorial Service

At Monarch Hospice we celebrate the lives of our patients that touched our hearts in a special Memorial Service. All the families of Monarch Hospice are invited to share and celebrate with us twice a year during these special ceremonies.
